Smooth newt (Lissotriton vulgaris), Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve, North Lanarkshire. Taken during a newt identification course with Froglife in 2013. The underside of a newt is often key to the identification of the species, the spots on the throat being indicative of a Smooth newt.
