Shag (Phalacrocorax aristotelis) displaying on Lunga, Treshnish Isles. Shags in the breeding season can be distinguished from Cormorants, even at a distance, by having crests. This one is displaying by moving its head about to impress its spouse.

Shags (Phalacrocorax aristotelis) and Kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla), Ailsa Craig. Kittiwakes breed in fairly large numbers on Ailsa Craig. Shags also breed there but are less numerous.
