The Large Emerald (Geometra papilionaria) is a moth of the Geometridae family. Identified by its green background, with wavy white lines running across the wings. Often confused with the Common Wave (Cabera exanthemata), but is generally whiter with more parallel cross-lines on the forewing. The Buff Ermine (Spilarctia luteum) is a moth from the family Erebidae. The forewings are a yellowish-buff to whitish-buff colour. The number and size of the black dots on the wings vary but a distinctive diagonal row of elongated spots running from the forewing tip to trailing edge can distinguish it from the White Ermine.
