Found on a Cairngorm plateau on the last day of June after the nesting season, Dotterel are quite confiding, but you mustn't stay long or you risk disturbing them.

Cairngorms in summer
While standing on a Cairngorm plateau looking through binoculars for Ptarmigan, this bird came and sat down only a few metres away. It was right at the end of June after the nesting season. I took a quick shot then moved away immediately, to save any disturbance.
