Wester Ross - Gairloch
Harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the Minch off Gairloch. Look for the very short triangular shape of the dorsal fin to distinguish it from a dolphin, the fin of which is longer. A porpoise also comes up and disappears again very quickly, to re-emerge in a different place, whereas a dolphin is more predictable in its direction of travel, and stays up for a bit longer.
