Great Yellow Bumblebee (Bombus distinguendus) on Red Clover (Trifolium pratense), Balranald RSPB nature reserve, North Uist. One of Britain's rarest bumblebees, the Great Yellow is now restricted to some Scottish islands and the very north of Scotland. It has a particular association with nectar producing plants such as Red Clover and Bird's Foot Trefoil.

Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor), a plant in the Broomrape family Orobanchaceae, at St Cyrus National Nature Reserve, taken by David Palmar. Yellow Rattle taps into surrounding grass roots to obtain nutrients, which weakens the grass and lets other flowers grow more easily, so it's a good thing to plant if you're trying to create a wildflower meadow.
