Loch Lomond wide panorama taken at 9am and showing from the Luss hills in the west on the left, with the islands along the Highland Boundary Fault, including Inchcailloch, and with Conic Hill and the Endrick Marshes in the east on the right.
This panorama has an 8 to 1 ratio, and being stitched together from 6 images is capable of printing to a large size. RSPB Loch Lomond is in the east on the right. The area forms part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the Loch Lomond National Nature Reserve.

Increasingly with climate change causing heavy and frequent rainfall, especially in winter, floodplains store water, which has serious implications for farmers relying on pasture there, but helps to prevent flooding of property downstream.

As part of planning permission mitigation for a housing development north of Bingham, Nottinghamshire, a new flood storage reservoir and flood prevention berm have been constructed in the neighbourhood of Car Dyke, a drainage ditch which has also been remeandered. The new lake forms a habitat for roosting water birds.
