The Royal Bridge, Ballater

The Royal Bridge, Ballater, opened by Queen Victoria in 1885 to replace a wooden bridge, which itself replaced Telford's bridge washed away in 1829. A storms washed away a previous bridge in 1789. The remains of caravans washed down the river can be seen against the bridge pier.
