CEP - Bass Rock
Gannets nesting on the Bass Rock. The Bass Rock has the World's largest colony of Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus). Scanned from a slide taken by CE Palmar in 1964. On this picture can be seen a large area unoccupied by Gannets - an area now fully occupied as the colony has expanded and pushed out any other birds such as the Herring gulls seen in the enlarged section of the picture.
