Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) with mud in its beak, at its nest hole, Dalzell Woods. The bird plasters up the edges of the nest hole to reduce it to the right size, so that it can still enter, but predators are dissuaded.

Many of the gulls are immature or sub-adult, as can be seen from the brown flecks on their plumage.
