Firth of Forth - Isle of May
The Low Lighthouse was built in 1844 by Robert Stevenson to indicate to ships the dangerous Carr rocks off Fife Ness. In 1887 the lighthouse was made redundant and a lightship was used instead. The accommodation attached to the lighthouse is still in use today by the Isle of May Bird Observatory. In the foreground is Common Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris). Picture taken by Gemma Woodford.
