Goosander (Mergus merganser) female and chicks on the River Kelvin, Maryhill, June 2020, taken by Pat Thomson. The female (sometimes known as a redhead) shows a definite line between the brown head and the white breast. This distinguishes a Goosander from a Red-breasted meganser, in which these two colours merge.

Glenshee - summer scenery and Ptarmigan
Ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) chicks are every bit as well camouflaged as their parents. This image shows a fluffy youngster with its mother.
Young ptarmigan can get up and run away almost as soon as they are born.
