The Trossachs
Adult male Adder (Vipera berus), Trossachs, flattened to increase solar heating. The camouflage pattern resembles bracken and hides Adders well. Males have a greyer appearance than females which are browner. Acknowledgement is due to Chris McInerny of Glasgow University who has studied these animals and who allowed me access to take their photos.
