Similar in appearance to other members of the Carrot family Apiacae, such as the deadly Hemlock (Conium maculatum). Wild carrot (Daucus carota) isn't very palatable unlike the cultivated version. This plant mainly occurs around the coast in Scotland and flowers in summer between June and August. This picture was taken at Fallin Bing in Stirlingshire.

Woody, a yearling European Beaver (Castor fiber) attracted by a carrot to a Scottish Beaver Trial beaver trap at Lochan Buic, Knapdale. The trial staff bait the trap with carrots in order that the beavers get used to the trap, so as to ease monitoring.
