The Campsie Fells with Dumgoyne and Dumfoyn, taken from Kelvindale, Glasgow by David Palmar.
These two volcanic plugs or necks mark the western end of the Campsie Fells.
The Carboniferous outpouring of lava from these volcanoes and others gave rise to the Campsies, Kilpatricks and Renfrew heights, which are collectively known as the Clyde Plateau Lavas. To the right can be seen some of the lava flows.
The weather is a typically anticyclonic winter scene, with cold dry air, blue skies and snow.
