Underside of Palmate Newt (Lissotriton helveticus) seen in a driveway of a house in Kelvindale, Glasgow. This is a male, as can be seen from the palmate (slightly webbed) rear feet. In the case of a female, the palmate feature is absent, so looking at the plain pink or yellow throat of a Palmate Newt distinguishes it from a Smooth Newt, the throat of which is spotted.
