Broom (Cytisus scoparius) is a large shrub which looks similar to gorse with bright yellow flowers which smell like vanilla. It can be seen flowering from April to June. It is most commonly found in hedgerows and open woodlands such as this picture illustrates. It is in Compartment 27 RSPB Loch Lomond. This field is one of several which are the habitat of the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly.

Broom (Cytisus scoparius) is a large shrub which looks similar to gorse with bright yellow flowers which smell like vanilla. It can be seen flowering from April to June. It is most commonly found in hedgerows and open woodlands. It is in Compartment 27 of RSPB Loch Lomond. The plant has been subjected to browsing, probably by Roe Deer, as the woody stem shows.
