Meadow at Bridgeness in Bo'ness including Common poppy (Papaver rhoeas), Corn Marigold (Glebionis segetum), Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) and Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor). Wildflower meadows are an important habitat for a variety of species However we have lost over 97% of them in the UK since the 1930s. This wildflower meadow was developed by Buglife Scotland in cooperation with the |nner Forth Landscape Initiative (IFLI).

Similar in appearance to other members of the Carrot family Apiacae, such as the deadly Hemlock (Conium maculatum). Wild carrot (Daucus carota) isn't very palatable unlike the cultivated version. This plant mainly occurs around the coast in Scotland and flowers in summer between June and August. This picture was taken at Fallin Bing in Stirlingshire.

Amongst plants seeded there are cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) and common poppy (Papaver rhoeas), annuals which encourage pollinators. Wildflower meadows are an important habitat for a variety of species. However we have lost over 97% of them in the UK since the 1930s.
