The dried out body of a Common toad (Bufo bufo), one of seven seen on a short stretch of path near the Glack, Dunkeld. It seems likely that exceptionally warm daytime weather brought the animals out of hibernation early - in mid February - and a sudden frost at night caught them out, probably a result of climate change, a symptom of which is more unpredictable weather.

The fleece should be free of black fibre and can vary from short, fine wool used for carpets and tweeds to strong coarse wool, which is sold mainly for the Italian mattress trade.
