Common Carder Bumblebee (Bombus pascuorum) on Broom (Cytisus scoparius), former Bridgeness Shipbreakers site, Bo'ness. Common Carders are ginger with black hairs on the abdomen. They have a long tongue which allows them to feed on plants with long tubular florets.

Male Orange tip (Anthocharis cardamines) butterfly on Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata), at former Bridgeness Shipbreakers site, Bo'ness. Females are white with black tips and lack the orange of the males. The butterflies prefer damp habitats but are often found in gardens.
