Speyside near Aviemore and Newtonmore
The Riband Wave (Idaea aversata f. remutata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. The typical ribboned form has a dark cross-band running across all four wings whereas the plain form (f. remutata) only has narrow cross-lines which can be seen in this picture. The Common White Wave (Cabera pusaria) is a moth from the family Geometridae and is commonly distributed throughout Britain. Often confused with the Common Wave (Cabera exanthemata), but is generally whiter with more parallel cross-lines on the forewing.
