Leopard slug (Limax maximus) at Gartness, near Drymen. Among the largest keeled slugs, the adult measures 10-20 cm. Colouring is variable, although generally a light greyish or grey-brown with darker spots and blotches. Mating method is unusual and distinctive: the pair hang suspended in the air from a tree branch or other structure using a thick thread of mucus. Scanned from a slide taken by CE Palmar
