Purple Moor Grass (Molinia caerulea) at Loch Ardinning Scottish Wildlife Trust nature reserve, Stirlingshire, taken by David Palmar. Purple Moor Grass is common on bogs in Scotland, where it can survive the acid soils and wet climate and substrate. Loch Ardinning nature reserve contains a mixture of habitats, including heather moorland.

Small copper (Lycaena phlaeas) at the Falls of Clyde. Despite still being fairly common, this butterfly went through declines throughout the 20th century. It can be found in a range of habitats, excluding the uplands of Northern Britain. This one was photographed at at Falls of Clyde.
