Point rodding and signal wire pulleys at Oban about 1980, before modernisation in 1988. Radio electronic token block signalling with colour light signals was then introduced to replace semaphore signals.
Points (switches or turnouts) are now controlled by a remotely operated electric motor.

The Strathspey Railway runs between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill in the Cairngorms. The attraction is run by a group of volunteer train enthusiasts. The steam engine in the photo is BR Ivatt Mogul Class 2MT number 46512, which was built in Swindon in 1952 and moved to Strathspey in 1982.
