Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria selene), Compartment 27, RSPB Loch Lomond, taken by David Palmar. Here is an ID tip if you can only see the upperwing of a fritillary. With a bit of imagination, you should see a black pattern of markings on the leading edge of the left upper forewing, resembling 730, which is a characteristic of both Pearl and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries. That distinguishes them from the Dark Green Fritillary, which has a dfifferent pattern in the same place resembling 1338. Depending on your view of the butterfly, you may need to look upside-down to see these patterns.
