Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica), Knot (Calidris canuta) and Redshank (Tringa totanus), Salum, Tiree. The Bar-tailed godwit is a regular winter visitor to Tiree in moderate numbers. Knot is an occasional visitor to Tiree during autumn passage. Tiree supports 600-800 breeding pairs of Redshank - nationally important numbers - and they are seen all year round with several hundred birds in winter.

Large mixed flock of Dunlin (Calidris alpina) and Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula), taken by Rebecca Dickson. Hundreds of birds were observed in the fields, including a Dunlin with a yellow leg flag from ringing. Unfortunately it was not possible to read at this distance.

A pair of Eider Ducks (Somateria mollissima) were not impressed by the sudden appearance of a Herring Gull (Larus argentatus). Dunlin (Calidris alpina), Sanderling (Calidris alba), and Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula) can also be seen on the shore.
