Tiree - Ceann a' Mhara, Balephuil, Hynish and Balemartine
Beach cusps and eroded sand dunes on Balephuil Bay, Tiree. Beach cusps form when backwash is concentrated into chance hollows in the beach, and as they are hollowed out, they become a self-perpetuating form of erosion. Sand dune erosion is becoming an increasing problem with rising sea level and the greater incidence of storms due to climate change.
