The Narrow-winged Pug (Eupithecia nanata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. A variable species with rather pointed forewings ranging in colour from light to dark grey with darker crosslines. The Riband Wave (Idaea aversata f. remutata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. The typical ribboned form has a dark cross-band running across all four wings whereas the plain form (f. remutata) only has narrow cross-lines which can be seen in this picture. The July Highflyer (Hydriomena furcata) on the left is a moth of the family Geometridae. A very variable species, both in markings as well as colour, with some showing a distinct green colour, others reddish-brown. The Lesser Swallow Prominant (Pheosia gnoma) on the right is a moth of the family Notodontidae. This species is very similar to Swallow Prominent (Pheosia tremula) but it is brown and white with a white triangular wedge near the corner of the hind wing. The Large Emerald (Geometra papilionaria) is a moth of the Geometridae family. Identified by its green background, with wavy white lines running across the wings. The Scallop Shell (Rheumaptera undulata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is widely distributed in Southern Britain but a rare sight in Scotland. Since 1970 the species has only been recorded in Scotland twice, once in 2016 and again in 2020.
