Eynhallow Sound with the island of Eynhallow and the Orkney mainland beyond. In the middle distance is the white-roofed building covering Midhowe chambered cairn, Rousay, and to the right, the Midhowe Broch. Chambered cairns are neolithic burial places and may date from about 3500 BC. Brochs are thought to be defensive settlement structures.
