CEP - Skye
Melancholy Thistle (Cirsium heterophyllum) gets its name from its past use, when it was used to prevent 'melancholia' (depression). Can be distinguished from other thistles by its single flower head and lack of spines. Found mainly in upland pastures. This photo was taken in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye. Scanned from a slide taken by CE Palmar.
