Seed dispersal of a Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is achieved by each seed having a 'parachute' called a pappus. The pappus is made up of around 100 filaments which allow it not only to be easily carried away in a gust of wind, but to slow its descent back to the ground - allowing it to travel further. Taken by David Palmar.
