Glasgow - Dams to Darnley
Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) in Dams to Darnley Country Park, Glasgow. Coltsfoot can be distinguished from Dandelions by the darker centres of the flower heads (the Dandelion flower is uniform yellow), and by the scaly stem (the Dandelion stem is smooth). The flowers appear in March before the leaves, which are heart-shaped and quite large in relation to the size of the flower.
