Cucumber Green Orb Weaver Spider (Arianella cucurbitina), Back Walk under Stirling Castle Rock. This is a common species across Britain in woodland edges and hedgerows. It has a red mark under the abdomen and 1-4 pairs of dark dots on the edges of the abdomen. Not to be confused with Arianella opisthographa (5 pairs of dots on edge of abdomen).

Four-spotted orb weaver (Araneus quadratus) spider, Lenzie Moss, East Dunbartonshire. The abdomen colour is quite variable, ranging from dark brown to bright orange or yellowy-green. Females can reach 17 mm in length, males approximately half the size. Both males and females are distinguished by the four spots on their abdomen.
