This is a rare beetle, declining in the early 20th century and being unrecorded between 1948 and 2006 when it was rediscovered. It is currently known only from Coll, and from single locations in south Devon, Salisbury Plain and one record in 2020 in Pembrokeshire. The beetle is a parasite of solitary bees. 19 May 2018

Short-necked oil beetle (Meloe brevicollis), Crossapol, Coll.
This is a rare beetle, declining in the early 20th century and being unrecorded between 1948 and 2006 when it was rediscovered.
It is currently known only from Coll, and from single locations in south Devon, Salisbury Plain and one record in 2020 in Pembrokeshire. The beetle is a parasite of solitary bees.
