Red throated diver (Gavia stellata) flapping its wings, Northmavine, Shetland. Note the slightly upturned bill, which helps to distinguish it from Black-throated diver. Although they breed on small hill lochs, there are not enough (if any) suitable fish there for them, so Red-throated divers usually come to the sea to fish.
