Small White (Pieris rapae) butterfly sitting on a Marsh Thistle (Cirsium palustre) at Fallin bing, Stirlingshire. This butterfly is found in a variety of habitats but particularly where brassicas such as cabbage are being grown, so it is colloquially known as a Cabbage White.

Often confused with the Common Wave (Cabera exanthemata), but is generally whiter with more parallel cross-lines on the forewing.
