Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) nesting on a body of water near Lennoxtown in East Dumbartonshire. Little grebes are the UK's smallest water diving bird, only around half the size of a moorhen. Tricky to find due to its habit of growing beneath larger plants, yet unmistakeable when spotted, the Lesser Twayblade (Listera cordata) orchid has tiny star shaped flowers, with two heart shaped basal leaves from which it gets its name (twayblade - two blades).
