This is one of 12 bells around the country installed to be rung by the sea at high tide, to celebrate the connection between land and sea, and between ourselves and the environment.

Iron Age House, Bosta, Great Bernera, Lewis, reconstructed in 1996 after being laid bare by a storm in 1992. Five houses were discovered, dating from the late Iron Age or Pictish period, 400-800 AD. The settlement in a sheltered bay, had running water, good grazing and arable land. The people ate seafood, meat and grain. The village is in the care of the Bernera Historical Society.
