Ashy Mining-bee (Andrena cineraria) in its nest hole in a colony at RSPB Inversnaid, Loch Lomond. This bee appears to have two additional ocelli (little eyes) used for navigation and stability in flight, in addition to the normal compound eyes you would expect in an insect.

The male has an obvious tuft of orange or yellow hairs on his face, whereas the female has a smaller tuft of faded yellow hairs on her face.
