In Scotland Chickweed Wintergreen grows on acidic, organic soil in pine, birch and oak woodlands. The plant ranges from 5 to 20cm in height and the stem is unbranched, usually with one or two white/reddish flowers. The leaves are thin and form a rosette around the stem.
